Last night ReachTEL polled the Brisbane City Council area to find out who the voters wanted to be the Mayor of Australia's largest municipality. With over a thousand people participating in the survey, current Lord Mayor Graham Quirk had very comfortable lead with over double the vote of the next candidate, Ray Smith from the ALP.
Gaining Valuable Consumer Market Research Through Political Surveys
Upon first impression, public surveys on important political issues of the day may not resonate from a marketing standpoint. But recent ReachTEL surveys yield precise characteristics of respondents, which dramatically illustrates the potential for drawing out prized demographic data via consumer market research.
In a national poll, ReachTEL contacted 2,428 residents from across the nation, asking a number of topical questions, running the gamut from the issue of same-sex marriage to the recent Qantas strikes. Polling was conducted using ReachTEL’s fully automated voice broadcast consumer market research capabilities.
The level of specificity in responses was impressive. What’s more, the data harnessed was ready to be packaged in a matter of hours rather than the weeks you may have to wait for results from other polling methods.
On the issue of same-sex marriage, the data show 60% of Coalition supporters against the concept and 60% of Labor supporters in favour. Of those surveyed about the Transport Workers Union strike against Qantas, roughly a third supported the workers’ action.
Applied to corporate campaigns, the findings illustrate the level of specificity one can secure from respondents. By carefully and directly questioning survey respondents, companies can potentially glean a trove of consumer data to formulate their own campaigns. Such market research is an essential cog to any marketing strategy. Once an expensive proposition, the ability to partner with a consumer market research company of ReachTEL’s calibre can help a company gather and utilise such important consumer data.
Harnessing such data can help a company understand its client on many levels, helping to focus the delivery of a particular message to bolster a firm’s business. Understanding consumer behaviour can assist companies to develop marketing strategies that resonate with a desired audience.
Even the most apolitical business owner can see the benefits of knowing an audience as much as possible through such research efforts.
