Federal Election 2010 - We picked 8 out of 9 seats and two major upsets

We watched with great excitement the results from Saturdays Federal election. ReachTEL market research successfully picked the outcome in eight out of nine surveyed electorates which included two shock results in the seats of Brisbane and Longman.

We disagreed with other political polling heavy weights, newspapers nationally and even the bookmakers! Our poll indicated that Teresa Gambaro would upset Labor veteran Arch Bevis in the seat of Brisbane and she didn't disappoint. While it's going down to the wire, the AEC has given the seat to the LNP. When we posted our prediction last Thursday, bookmakers were still offering $2.80 for a Gambaro win!

Another massive result was the victory of 20 year old Wyatt Roy in the electorate of Longman. We made the call that he would win by a small but comfortable margin and that is exactly what he did.

In Blair, we predicted a two party preferred result of ALP 54.7% to LNP 45.3% with the final result coming in at 54.3% to 45.7% - less than half of one percent difference to our prediction - an absolute stunning result indeed.

It was a great night for ReachTEL and further demonstrated the credibility of our Voice Broadcast market research technology.
